Today's inflight Wi-Fi is more like Wi-Fi Light when it comes to downloads. I expected their low data rate to be slow, but this is quite amazing. I haven't seen stuff this slow since pre dial-up modem at 56 Kbps. True, not every download is this slow . . . . but, it depends on how many users are on in the cell tower range, on your flight and others nearby. The fewer the users the faster the data link.
Hence, I call airborne internet today Wi-Fi Light.
